Hello!
Wow, this week went super fast!! Thank you for helping your kids study for all the quizzes and tests we had this week. I think they did pretty good!
Graded papers will be sent home on Wednesday in their Wednesday folders. Just a reminder that First Quarter ends on October 14th!
Here's what is going on this week:
Spelling- Blue Group test on Thursday, October 13th
Social Studies- Beginning a new chapter (5) Newcomers Settle. Students will identify reasons why St. Louis grew in the 1800's; describe the economies established by settlers in St. Louis; identify ways in which St. Louis has changed and stayed the same over time. They will also read and interpret historical data using a line graph.
Math- Chapter 5 (Subtraction) Subtracting across zero's, regrouping, and subtracting 3-4 digit numbers.
Science- We are studying pages 172-176 in our book: Food chains and Energy pyramids! Check out the games I have for these concepts on the blog!
Writing- We are learning about themes and moral of the story, to help us develop a writing idea. Students are writing two short stories this week. Did you check out their imaginative animal stories on the blog? I'm so proud of our team's authors!
Reading- We will be reviewing all the strategies we learned this quarter: making predictions, finding cause and effect relationships, making connections, asking and answering questions.
