Parents, thank you for coming to curriculum night last night.  It was a pleasure seeing you again.  If you have any other questions regarding third grade expectations, please feel free to contact me, anytime.
Here's what's happening next week:

Spelling:  Continued set up and review of routines.  Students are currently using the names of their classmates as words to work with in the daily activity.

Math:  Complete chapter one.  Test on Thursday.  I am sending home the bonus home activity packet on Friday, August 26th.  Please use this to help your child practice the skills that will be tested next week.
Science:  What do plants need to live?  We will do an experiment with celery.  And we will be looking at different types of leaves, discovering what the different shape, color, and size tell us about that plant.
Writing:  We will be learning about the writing process, paying careful attention to the revising and editing stage.  Students will do an activity with clay, then write a descriptive piece about their creation.
Reading:  We will be reading various types of text and making several connections (text to self, text to text, and text to world).

1st Day of School!

Today was a wonderful first day to the 2011-2012 school year!  I know we will have a memorable year of learning.  Today, I was most impressed with everyone's attitude.  Everyone was positive and happy to get to know each other.  Hope you enjoy our first class photos....one silly and one with just smiles.  We also created a list of "We Will" statements, based on how we want our class to look.  I think they covered everything!

WELCOME BACK!

I'm so excited to meet my new third graders!  I hope to see you all at tonight's Ice Cream Social from 5-7pm.  You can find me in our classroom, 38.  It would be helpful to bring your supplies, so you don't have to carry so much to school on the first day.
If you are unable to make it to tonight's meet and greet, I will be anxiously waiting for you on the first day of school, Tuesday August, 16th!
Our times have changed a bit from last year.  Students are allowed in the building at 8:20.  They will be released to their classrooms at 8:30.  Bus dismissal is not until 3:25.
Before the first day of school, parents, please update information on SIS.  And, make sure you and your child know their bus number and the pick up and drop off location.
I KNOW THIS WILL BE AN AMAZING YEAR OF LEARNING AND MAKING NEW FRIENDSHIPS!
