Holiday Party

We're having so much fun at our holiday party right now!  I forgot my phone at home....so I can't take any pictures...I'm so sad!  But I did post a video of the students painting holiday ornaments.  Check it out!  PARENTS:  You can pick up the ornaments at Baked Goods Pottery in 10 tens....so December 26th!  Just tell them it is with Mrs. Feldt's Class and their initials are written on the back of the ornament.  Thank you to all the parents who made this a special party for us!

Very Late Update

WoW!  It's already Wednesday and I failed to send out an update.  Please forgive me.  We are frantically trying to wrap everything up in time for the holidays and end of second quarter.

Spelling:  Everyone has completed their tests.  New words will be given when we return in January.

Social Studies:  We will taking a test over Government tomorrow.  Students are doing a fantastic job of studying throughout the week. 

Science:  We are creating a powerpoint presentation about planets in our solar system.  I hope that every student will complete their presentation by Friday, so they can present when we return from break.  I will be sure to video your solar system scholar, so you can view their presentation as well.

Writing;  We are poets!!  They are learning how to write cinquain poems, diamante poems, acrostics, and sensory poems. 

Reading: We are reading and discussing several poems, paying close attention to the structure of poetry and the rhyming words.

Math:  We are learning about the properties of multiplication.  Please study these with your child.  This will help them understand the concept of multiplication and relationship with numbers when multiplying.  I've attached a document you can use with your child, to help study all the properties.  Please remember to continue studying multiplication facts with your child over the break!

Weekly Update 12.5-9

We had a wonderful week...it was probably because we missed school so much during the Thanksgiving break!

I hope next week is equally productive!

Spelling: blue group is testing Thursday and green group is testing Friday

Social Studies:  We are studying the three branches of government:  Legislative, Judicial, and Executive.  We are also learning how bills become laws.  Finally, we will be identifying and discussing the importance of national symbols and monuments.  If you have any pictures of these, please bring them in!  We have a government bulletin board in the class.

Math:  We are reviewing the concepts of multiplication:  arrays, listing combinations, groups of, intersecting lines and testing over our strategies on Tuesday.  We will then focus on learning our multiplication facts. If you are not encouraging your child to practice these facts every nights, please do so now!  This is an important skill to have memorized.

Science:  We are studying the planets in our solar system.  Students will take a quiz on Friday.  They are also working on a planet powerpoint.  They will be required to research two planets and write comparison paragraphs about them.  After they create a powerpoint, they will present it to the class.  I will be posting these presentations as videos on the blog.

Reading:  We are studying the various types of poetry.

Writing:  Students have done a wonderful job of writing their first narratives.  We will continue working on narrative pieces.  I am hoping they will become more vivid and clear authors!

 

Important Dates:

Monday:  Music Program!  Rehearsal at 2pm at Sappington.  Performance at 7pm at High School auditorium

Wednesday:  Early Release & Character Club field trip to Friendship Village (please wear green club shirts and Santa hats if you have one!)
