Autobiography/Biography Project!

An Exciting Week!

We were quite busy this week...full of learning and having fun!  We began our first week of the Water Challenge.  We have committed to only drinking water for 2 weeks and then donating the money we saved from not buying soda and juice to kids who need water.  We discussed possible goals for our class and they decided that $200 was a reasonable goal (about $8 per person).  Boy do we have quite generous students!  We began our week with asking questions about the Water Project, then we researched the website and other sites and found our answers.  They collected what they learned on various fact sheets and made a huge map locating areas that have water problems.  We are so excited for this project and for the opportunity to help others!

We also have had the privilege of learning from a Junior Achievement teacher.  We have been learning about developing a community, businesses, and communicating with others.  This week students worked together to write their very own newspaper.  Last week will unfortunately be our last week for Junior Achievement.

Water Challenge

Our school is participating in the WATER CHALLENGE!  They have committed to only drinking water for 2 weeks, starting today, then donating the money they saved from not drinking juice, soda, ect. to children who do not have clean water so readily available.  (I have told the students, that they should probably still be drinking milk, though, since they're growing kids.)  Please visit the website for more information.
